
Product development for England's Historic cities

Bringing 16 destinations together under one brand umbrella and persuading the US travel trade to sell it was an ambitious undertaking for England's Historic Cities.

The project was worth £1.6m and attracted £1m from the Discover England Fund through a competitive bidding process.

Over a 3 year period Melanie worked closely with colleagues as Project Director overseeing an enormous range of activity from trade launches and sales missions to business support events, filming, app development, story telling, augmented reality and virtual tours, trade partnerships and consumer marketing. As well as managing a large partnership comprising 16 historic destinations, 3 strategic partners (London & Partners, English Heritage and UKinbound), 86 attractions, 51 accommodation providers, 29 hospitality providers and a wide range of suppliers, she took direct responsibility for project evaluation, reporting and research and market testing of new concepts and acted as the media spokesperson for the project.
