Airbnb study for Greater Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire County Council were keen to find out more about how home-sharing platforms such as Airbnb were impacting the region’s visitor economy.
They asked Melanie to conduct a study into Airbnb style accommodation in Greater Lincolnshire and present the findings as a report, case study material and a set of guidance sheets for use by potential hosts and the public sector. Working with colleague Jackie Ellis, she conducted a deep dive into the data plus a literature review, a series of conversations with destination managers and property agencies as well as a survey of accommodation providers. This uncovered information about supply and demand, the type of Airbnb offer across the region and the main property clusters, income levels for hosts, the profile of home share guests and the quality of the offer. It was presented it as a report illustrated with graphs, tables and maps. Case studies and guidance sheets were presented as a set of short pdfs.
Lincolnshire County Council commissioned Melanie to conduct detailed research around the AirBnB sector across Lincolnshire in early 2020. She produced a comprehensive, valuable report which has provided a much clearer overview on the AirBnB sector within our region. In addition her vast industry expertise has provided us with some clear guidelines on how we can support this sector during Covid-19 which will support our wider recovery plan for tourism within Lincolnshire. I would highly recommend Melanie and Jackie for future commissions.
